Hoffman Nature Area

The Tippecanoe County Parks Foundation engaged Mader Design for master planning and phased park development at Hoffman Nature Area. The 440-acre property, comprised of cropland uses and woodland trails, is bordered by the Wabash River and bisected by Sugar Creek and natural woodland ravines.

Mader Design’s completed master plan emphasizes Tippecanoe County’s main goals to renaturalize the cropland with native prairie and reforest land within the Sugar Creek watershed. Given the large scale of this transformation, the master plan divides the site into development phases to ensure a successful transition, balancing ecological restoration with continued agricultural use. Following the property’s renaturalization, the master plan proposes a varied trail system to accommodate users of all abilities, environmental education opportunities, and honoring the history of the land and its inhabitants through interpretive exhibits.
