Indiana State University - Early Childhood Education Center
Mader Design worked closely with Indiana State University and arcDESIGN Architecture + Interiors for the site design of the Jan McCarthy Early Childhood Education Center. The project relocated the former off-campus Education Center to a renovated on-campus building to better serve the ISU College of Education and Terre Haute community. To accompany the renovated building, a safe and flexible outdoor space was needed in order to accommodate the childcare facility's daily programming.
Mader Design's site plan, constructed in 2025, included improvements to the new main entry drop-off and service drive, plaza spaces and shade structures, and a series of play spaces accommodating each age group from infants to preschool-aged. To accommodate current needs while mitigating costs, open play surfacing areas are placed within each space with preliminary play equipment and tricycle tracks, with the intent of implementing additional equipment in future years.
