Marian Shrine and Rosary Walk, Marian University

Marian University has added an dynamic and spiritual space to their campus. Mader Design worked with the architect to master plan and design the Marian Shrine and Rosary Walk on the south end of campus. Tucking into the wooded area near the Tea House and Wellness Center, the Shrine aligns on the central axis of the Campus and provides a focal point and gathering spot. The scale of the space provides intimate personal opportunity for prayer and reflection while at the same time offering opportunities to hold larger groups for prayer services or outdoor masses.

Utilizing a spiral geometry and integrating long lasting materials such as brick, concrete, stone, and wood into the mature trees, the statue of Mary serves as the focal point. Brick Paver and limestone inlaid plazas combine with solar powered led lights set into the pathway to create the beads of the Rosary. Benches provide contemplative resting spots focused on the shrine, and a bubbling boulder water fountain provides a calming ambiance as you enter the site. Landscaping accentuates the spiral, plazas, and the shrine completing the space.
