Mader Design worked with Lauth Communities and CrossRoad Engineers for the site design at 1st on Main. This luxury apartment community is located in the heart of Carmel’s Arts & Design District– a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly neighborhood corridor. The developers of the mixed-use apartment building desired concepts for patio and plaza spaces, along with a hardscape design for pedestrian walkways, that echoed the building’s ornate architectural facade.

Working within narrow site constraints, Mader Design’s finished site plan incorporates unique hardscape paving patterns throughout the design. A pedestrian alleyway with catenary lighting is nestled within the development, providing access to a small dog run for apartment residents. Flexible site amenities and furnishings include seating options, bike racks, and moveable planters. An elevated patio at the southeastern bounds of the development provides additional seating with views of downtown Carmel.
