Riverside Adventure Park

Mader Design partnered with HCO Architects, Indy Parks, and many additional consultants for the design and construction of numerous site improvements at Riverside Adventure Park. The Adventure Park, located on the northwestern side of 900-acre Riverside Regional Park, is formerly the site of an underused golf course that lacked park amenities for the Indianapolis community. Following Indy Parks' previous master planning efforts, Mader Design designed and developed construction documents for multiple aspects of the park.

The "Racing Zone" is a fitness trail and exercise course adjacent to the existing soap box derby track. This area also includes landscape improvements along Cold Spring Road that complements Marian University’s campus across the road. The "River Zone" includes a large picnic pavilion, trails, and gathering space along the White River. Parking was developed to accommodate events, daily park use, and the adjacent Parks Alliance headquarters. Site amenities for the park zones include outdoor fitness equipment above safety surfacing, decorative monument signs, entry plazas, decorative paving details, and rain gardens to capture stormwater accompanied by native plantings. In addition, former golf cart paths were improved and added upon to create an entirely ADA-compliant trail system throughout the Adventure Park.
